My client is an exciting scale-up (series D), working in the Ed-Tech space having scaled over the last 10 years since inception, this is an exciting opportunity to get involved with a business looking to place Data at the heart of its continued success.
With backing from some of the most renowned technology-focused Venture Capital organisations they are now looking to scale their proposition of supporting students with personalised teaching resources to accentuate their learning & development and are now in over 300 schools across North America.
The Role
As a senior data engineer, you will be reporting to the VP of engineering whilst building on a solid data infrastructure already in place with a small but highly capable team of data scientists, analysts and data engineers as the business looks to move to a near real-time analytics capability.
The core project you will initially undertake as the senior data engineer will be to take the lead on designing and implementing a modern Data Warehouse utilising tools such as Airflow, dbt, and BigQuery. This will then enable near real-time Data transformation pipelines to be created utilising Airflow.
As a senior you will be expected to participate in Code Reviews and be tasked with mentoring more junior Engineers however, you won’t be expected to line manage in this role.
The successful candidate will possess the following skills & experience:
- Proven experience developing Infrastructure as Code frameworks for deploying & managing Data applications from code through to Production
- Be well-versed with Cloud infrastructures – GCP is preferred but AWS/Azure will be considered
- Strong experience in modelling event-driven data warehouses/data lakes, using both traditional (i.e. star schema, snowflake schema) and modern (i.e. Wide tables – OBT, columnar storage, nested columns) approaches.
- Proven experience with dbt
- Strong proficiency with CI/CD pipelines
