An innovative and fast-moving health-tech scale-up business is looking to add a senior data engineer to its team as it continues to help build out its world-class data team.
31% of women suffer from a reproductive health issue at some point throughout their lifetime and through research, our client’s vision is to reduce the time to diagnosis through advanced at-home testing and specialist care. They create tailored pathways to the individual’s reproductive goals, whether to explore their ovarian health and fertility options or overall hormonal health, such as confirming a PCOS diagnosis.
This high-performing Data team operate remotely although as the team grows they will look to meet up every few months etc.
The Role
This is a particularly important hire for the business with a scaling Data team of 6 you will be joining to help build the world’s first data platform for Women to help manage hormonal health. Giving you an opportunity to work towards a platform and goal that will directly lead to the betterment of society. Currently, they utilise both AWS and GCP infrastructure as they look to work towards the cutting edge of AI integration. This is a fairly greenfield site and would suit an engineer who is interested in building from scratch and taking ownership of a function.
At present, this is more of an independent contributor position but as the team scales there will be an option for someone to take on mentoring and perhaps line management – there are ambitious plans in place for growth and funding to match.
Key responsibilities include:
- Structuring data sources across multiple sources
- Collaborating alongside data scientists, analysts, product owners and engineers to further enhance a culture of excellence
- Developing ETL code for cleaning and linking
The successful candidate will likely possess the following skills and experience:
- Experience building software in Python
- Extensive experience with SQL database design (We mainly use PostgreSQL)
- Good understanding of software development principles and practices (e.g. – version control, typing, TDD, structured code)
- Knowledge of big data processing technologies (e.g. – Spark, Redshift)
The following skills and experience would be beneficial but are by no means essential:
- Knowledge of NoSQL and Graph databases
- Data as a product mindset
- Experience working with healthcare data would be a bonus
