We’ve partnered with a world leading Luxury business who are renowned for their expert auctions. They’ve gone beyond that and now provide art appraisals, art financing and international real estate. They have a physical presence in 46 countries across the globe and are the only international auction house who have secured authorization to hold sales in mainland China giving them a distinct competitive advantage. With a hunger to continuously innovate on their offering, they have recently penetrated the Crypto and NFT markets.

With auctions ranging anywhere from as little as £200 up to £400 million, there’s always something exciting happening and you can be at the heart of it all!

Background

Up until now, a consultancy have been commissioned to undertake the majority of the Data Science work and the organisation have come to a realization that they need a Data Scientist to provide in house expertise.

The Role

In this position you can expect to be leading initiatives and also leading and managing the consultancy team to make sure that the work they’re doing is not only in line with the organisation’s goals but also making sure that they’re getting value for their money and following good industry practices.

It’s key to mention that although you will need to get their hands dirty every now and then, this is not an overly technical role but rather a 70-30 split between stakeholder management + strategy (70%) and hands on Data Science (30%).

You’ll be Liaising between the consultancy team who are currently 3 people and the internal Data Architects who are roughly 8.

What’s Essential

Although we don’t like to put too much emphasis on the "years of experience", this role would be suited to a seasoned Data Scientist who is comfortable enough in their own ability to be able to lead and mentor 3 members while also being able to identify and implement good industry practices.

• Hands-on commercial knowledge of Python/Spark and a Cloud platform
• Commercial awareness is vital
• With a key partner in the USA, you’ll need to be open to the occasional late meeting

Desired by definitely not essential

• A keen interest in the world of Art would be beneficial
• Previous experience line managing
