An SME-sized customer of ours has given us an exclusive mandate to find a Head of Data Engineering to manage their data engineering team and drive the development and implementation of their data strategy. Responsibilities:

Spearhead the design, development, and maintenance of our data infrastructure, including data pipelines, data warehouses, and data lakes

Develop and implement a comprehensive data strategy that aligns with our business objectives

Manage the development and implementation of new data initiatives, such as machine learning and AI applications

Work closely with data analysts, data scientists, and other stakeholders to understand their data requirements and translate them into technical solutions

Develop and implement best practices for data quality, data security, and data privacy

Monitor and troubleshoot data pipelines, data warehouses, and data lakes to ensure high availability and performance

Provide guidance and mentorship to other data engineers

Manage hiring, budget control, and supervision of the data engineering team

Continuously evaluate and adopt new technologies and tools to improve our data infrastructure
Requirements:

An impressive academic record, ideally in a STEM or computer science discipline

Minimum of 7 years of experience in data engineering or a related field

Strong experience in designing and developing data pipelines, data warehouses, and data lakes

Expertise in either AWS or Azure cloud infrastructure

Strong understanding of data modelling and schema design
