As a European-based scale-up in the home insurance industry, they are there when needed most for over one million customers every year. They are in a great period of data transformation right now, with the mission to put data in the driving seat for key business decisions.
The Role:
As Head of Data Architecture, you will spearhead the modernisation of the company’s UK data.
Since there is a lot of data to play with, though currently not under a modern architecture, it’s up to you to define the technical requirements in order to achieve business objectives. By doing this, you will enable complete exploitation of the company’s data, set the benchmark for success for the rest of the data team, and gain a leg up on insurance competitors.
This involves managing data sources and their communication, defining, and maintaining robust data governance policies. You will also introduce new tech to the business to improve on their data warehousing, and be their port of call for technical specification.
Based in central London, offering a 50/50 office to wfm pattern, your work commute could not be made more accessible.
Importantly, there is a lot of room to make decisions here, so the new strategic technical vision you foster will sit in the business for years, going where they never have gone before with their data.
What You Need:
- Proven success as a team lead in Data Architecture, with repeated examples of successful end-to-end project management.
- Complete confidence in data mesh and data governance policy implementation, with data access tracking.
- Minimum 5+ years of experience across Azure, AWS, and GCP, Kubernetes, Airflow, Spark, and more.
- Previous expertise with Python, SQL, ideally from a data analytics or data engineering background.
- Preferably insurance sector experience or with financial data.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
