Role Details:
This organisation, operating in the Retail/Manufacturing space, is looking for a skilled and adaptable DevOps & Infrastructure Engineer to join its IT team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to take a pivotal part in managing and enhancing the organization’s IT infrastructure, networks, and systems while promoting best practices in monitoring, automation, and security. As the company continues to grow, scale, and modernize its infrastructure and processes, the position will emphasise optimising operations through scripting and the implementation of Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee, monitor, and support the organisation’s IT infrastructure to ensure optimal performance and high availability.
- Configure and manage networking hardware, including firewalls, routers, and switches.
- Diagnose and resolve network and infrastructure issues to reduce downtime.
- Design and maintain automation scripts to optimise IT operations and deployment processes.
- Utilize tools such as Terraform, Ansible, or equivalents to implement and manage Infrastructure as Code.
- Work closely with development teams to improve CI/CD pipelines and automate infrastructure tasks.
- Ensure systems and infrastructure comply with security best practices and regulatory standards.
- Proactively identify and address security vulnerabilities using access controls, encryption, and monitoring solutions.
- Perform routine audits, vulnerability assessments, and manage system patches.
- Develop and manage scripts for tasks such as system management, data processing, and automation, using languages like PowerShell, Python, or Bash.
Desired Technical Capabilities:

- Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps methodologies.
- Experience with cloud platforms like Azure, AWS, or GCP.
- Expertise in managing IT infrastructure, including routers, firewalls, and switches.
- Proficient in Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform, Ansible, or CloudFormation.
- Advanced scripting skills with languages like PowerShell, Python, or Bash for system management and automation.
- Skilled in using Git for version control.
- Strong knowledge of SQL or similar database query languages.
- Experience in implementing and managing secure IT systems with a security-first approach.
- Familiarity with security tools and protocols, including firewalls, VPNs, and intrusion detection systems.
- Familiarity with monitoring tools and frameworks such as Zabbix, Prometheus, or Grafana.
- Experience with containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
